Photographs of children and interview participants from a public elementary school in Quezon City, Manila, Philippines.
Joy, a research assistant from Ateneo de Manila University is interviewing a fifth grade girl from a public elementary school in Quezon City.
Children bring some of their lunch to school, but a hot portion of the meal and something to drink is provided in the classroom.
Children eat their lunch inside at their desks and then are able to play outside when they are done.
Here they are sitting at their desks while the teacher is giving a lecture.  Notice the map mural that is being painted on the wall behind them.
Here's a little girl in the middle of her art project.

Three girls on their way back from a group trip to the bathroom.
At this school, the gymnasium was on the top of the building.  The children were practicing a play that they were putting on independence day about the importance of the flag .
My research assistants are admiring the artwork created by the students at the elementary school.  Many of the painting had received awards.
