Entrance Audition Dates
Requirements and Forms
An entrance audition is required for new and transfer students applying for the following degrees: the BA in Music, the BA in Music with a concentration in Musical Theatre, and the BMus in Music Education. All students applying for the MAT in Music Education must audition, as well.
No audition is required for the BA in Music with a Concentration in Music Management.
Fall, 2007 (for either Spring 2008 or Fall 2008 admission):

1. Completed application for admission to Manhattanville College.
2. A short, written music theory placement examination.
3. The performance of three compositions from different periods of music
performed on the major performing medium. Pianists and vocalists must perform
at least one work from memory. Musical Theatre candidates must perform
at least one work from a classical tradition.
4. A
Music Entrance Audition Form listing the compositions to be performed at the
audition must be submitted to the Music Department at least one week
before the audition date.
5. An accompanist will be provided for vocalists only.

1. Completed application for admission to the MAT in Music degree program at Manhattanville College.
2. A one-hour written music theory examination (including analysis, figured bass realization, and general fundamentals).
3. A one-hour written music history and literature examination covering significant musical developments, compositions, and key figures from the Renaissance to the present.
4. The performance of three compositions from different periods of music performed on the major performing medium.
5. A test of sight-reading skills at the piano.
6. A test of sight-singing skills.
7. A test of skills involving the harmonization of a melody at the piano.
