APPLIED
MUSIC REQUIREMENTS FOR BA IN MUSIC,
(including using Music Technology as Major Field of Study)
(effective Fall, 2003)
Students in the BA in Music program must audition for vocal or instrumental music as a major performing vehicle or pursue music technology as a field of study.
Vocal or Instrumental Music Requirements:
18 credits in applied music courses (for students using either voice, piano, guitar, or an orchestral instrument as the major performing vehicle) including:
| 8 semesters of large ensemble (Chorus, Large Jazz Ensemble or Orchestra) and 2 semesters of small ensemble, and | |
| 8 semesters of one-hour lessons on the primary instrument. |
Music Technology Requirements:
| 12 credits of music technology courses (for students using either Audio Recording or Electronic Music as a major performing vehicle), and | |
| 6 credits of applied music performance (either lessons or ensemble). |
In addition, all B.A. in Music students must also take a minimum of 4 semesters of piano study (replaced by electives if piano is the major instrument).
Note: Students in the Bachelor of Music in Music Education programs may not use Music Technology as a major field of study.
