Method for Senior Project

The Senior Internship Project in Music Management should represent a culmination of work for your degree . Your assignment is to: pick a current controversial issue in the music business, research and explore the pros and cons of your chosen topic, and write a paper demonstrating your mastery of the topic incorporating  your major course work, and, in your conclusion, take a stand for the issue and  support it. Each Project will begin with a Survey of Materials summarizing research, interviews, and related bibliography, as they apply to your topic. For example, a project on ASCAP would begin with an essay summarizing research on PROs and placing your Project in the context of that research.

You will present the proposal for your project in class, along with a formal written proposal (no late proposals accepted). For the assigned class, you must have a thorough working Bibliography for the project (written in proper format) along with the written proposal. After I approve your proposal, you will proceed to prepare the Survey of Materials mentioned in the above paragraph. You will present those materials in class, as well. The Final Project Presentations are open to the department and should include an integrated PowerPoint show. The presentations will be approximately 15 minutes long. The written Project is due the class of your presentation.

The guide for correct bibliography is: Mark A. Radice. Irvine's Writing About Music. (Portland, OR, 1999). All bibliography must conform to the guidelines in the text.

Useful Online Bibliography Reference: Towson University has an online guide in the style of Irvine's Writing about Music, which can be accessed here.
