Topics to be covered:

 

            Real number line, absolute value, inequalities

            Cartesian coordinates, distance between points

            Straight lines, functions

            Limits and derivatives

            Derivative rules, chain rule, implicit differentiation

            Derivatives of the trigonometric functions

            Related rates problems

            Mean value theorem and applications

            Curve sketching

            Maximum - minimum problems

            Antiderivatives, integrals, and areas

            The Fundamental Theorem of Calculus 

 

Requirements for course:

 

            Class attendance

            Homework assignments and quizzes

            Graded Derive problems

            3 tests 

            Final examination

 

Calculator policy: You will NOT be allowed to use graphing calculators or cell-phones during the quizzes, tests, and final exam.  A scientific calculator (like the TI-30Xa or Casio FX-260) or a simple function calculator (add, sub, mult, div, square roots, etc.) is permitted. If you plan to use a calculator other than one of those, it must be approved in advance
