Groups and subgroups
Rings, fields, and other abstract algebras
Homomorphisms
Solutions of polynomial equations
Field extensions
Galois Theory
Note: For students taking this course as a graduate course there is an extra component. Click here for details.
Requirements for course:
Class attendance and homework assignments
Graded problem sets
Midterm: tentative date: Thursday, October 18
Final examination – week of Dec. 10
