School of Education Profile

 

·        The first Master’s program was offered in 1965 in elementary and secondary education. The first Undergraduate program was offered in 1930 in secondary education.

·        Offers 72 programs (30 undergraduate programs and 42 graduate programs)

·        Offers dual degree programs: Childhood and Early Childhood; Childhood and Special Education; Secondary areas and Special Education; Literacy and Special Education (Birth – 6); Literacy and Special Education (5 – 12)

·        Serves 930 students (150 undergraduate students and 780 graduate students)

·        Has 19 full-time faculty, one half-time faculty, 8 full-time administrators, and approximately 59 adjunct faculty

·        Offers diversity scholarship for educational leadership; alumni scholarship and graduate scholarship

·        Has unique programs and initiatives: Jump Start; Changing Suburbs Institute; Manhattanville Alumni Mentoring Guild; M-PALS (Manhattanville Promotes Academic & Lifelong Success); Professional Development Schools with Edison Community School, Port Chester, and the George Washington School, White Plains; Bushwick New Visions High School; Model Classrooms for Methods Courses; Special Alumni Initiatives; over 20 partnerships with schools, teacher centers and professional development sites; educational honorary (Kappa Delta Pi) and educational organization (Council for Exceptional Children);  Arts in Education Institute; Summer Writing Workshop
