Bio

Shelley B. Wepner has 33 years experience in K-12 and higher education; 9 years as a teacher and administrator in K-12 education, and 24 years as a faculty member and administrator in higher education.

Most recently, she was Director of the Center for Education, Associate Dean of the School of Human Service Professions, and Professor of Education at Widener University, Chester, Pennsylvania. Previously, she was a professor, chairperson, and administrator at William Paterson University, Wayne, New Jersey.

She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy education and technology in education, and has served as a supervisor of student teachers. She has published over 105 articles and book chapters and 8 co-edited or co-authored books related to literacy and technology, connections between K-12 education with higher education, and leadership skills for effectively supporting teacher education and literacy development.  She has served as editor of The Reading Instruction Journal of the New Jersey Reading Association and a column editor for The Reading Teacher of the International Reading Association. She served as the chairperson of the Technology and Teacher Education Committee of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.

She is the author/coauthor of three award-winning software packages for elementary and adolescent literacy development, Read-A-Logo, Reading Realities, and Reading Realities Elementary Series. 

Her most recent book publication is Beating the Odds: Getting Published in the Field of Literacy (2006, International Reading Association). She currently is co-editing the fourth edition of The Administration and Supervision of Reading Programs (Teachers College Press).
